All participating companies were invited to the official launch of the AI and Advanced Programming Consortium (AIC). Keio University President Kohei Itoh first gave an overview of the founding of the Consortium and outlined its future prospects. Next, AIC representative Takahiro Yakoh introduced the organization of the website, and spoke about the guidance session as well as the high level of interest from students. After that, Professor Endo went into the details of AIC’s current plans and contents of the workshops and contests to be held.
Following that, participating companies talked about their expectations and introduced their future plans for the Consortium. Although the expectations and plans being considered varied from company to company, there was a common focus on the education and nurturing of young talent in AI and a shared hope that the younger generations will come up with innovative ideas.. After introducing the coordinators and staff, the participants toured the Hiyoshi Programming Room and the Coordinator’s Room.
After that, the event shifted to a different venue for a reception. Guests discussed about the corporate planning contest and lectures to be held in the fall semester, and brainstormed interesting ideas.
