Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and AIC collaborated to hold a two-day event from February 25 to 26, 2025, titled “Searching for Vitality in the Coming Era Using Generative AI.”
A total of 12 students, ranging from first-year undergraduates to master’s students from a variety of faculties and majors, including the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Economics, participated in this event.
At the onset of the event, staff from Otsuka Holdings/Otsuka Pharmaceutical gave an overview of the company, elaborating on specific brand marketing strategies and other company initiatives. In addition, they also shared information on issues that companies are currently facing, allowing participants to experience the forefront of marketing and real-life aspects of business practices.
Following that, there was a lecture on visual thinking and storytelling where company representatives explained the impact that storytelling has on companies and organizations in the digital age using specific case studies.
“The 6W’s,” a data analysis method using visual thinking, was also presented on during the lecture. After that, participants were divided into three groups to brainstorm on the theme “Vitality in the Coming Era.” During groupwork, participants tackled the challenge of generating ideas using “The 6W’s” and creating stories using generative AI while investigating the various elements that comprise “vitality” and the threats that prevent the realization of this “vitality” in modern society.
Each team examined specific issues and proposed solutions from their own unique perspectives, with Team A focusing on the weakening sense of belonging and human relationships, Team B on the effects of excessive competition and social media, and Team C on today’s information society and how dependency on it has shaped lifestyle habits. Each team took varying approaches that leverage generative AI to generate illustrations, manga panels, and videos, as well as to adjust the style of their written text, thereby improving the quality of their “stories” from their own unique perspectives.
This workshop provided an opportunity for participants to deepen their learning in a practical and creative way through two focal points: brand marketing know-how and storytelling techniques leveraging generative AI.
