Fall Semester AY 2022 UiPath x AIC Collaboration Program Activity Report

On February 7 and 8, 2023, UiPath, Inc. and Keio AIC collaborated to hold the event, “Learning Automation Technology to Tackle Social Issues: Anyone Can Become a DX Expert” as a short-term intensive program.

This event was organized with the aim of “teaching students the techniques to efficiently become a DX expert in two days using UiPath robotic process automation (RPA) software!” Approximately 20 people attended the event, which was held face-to-face!

Program Digest

Day 1, morning session: ‘Trying Out RPA and Understanding How It Works!’

Participants learned what RPA is and performed basic operations. They were able to execute commonly used actions. They were also able to make recordings and conduct data scraping with RPA.

Day 1, afternoon session: ‘Automating Screen Operations and Excel Reading/Writing!’

Participants learned how to automate PC screen operations and Excel.

Day 1, Application Time

Applying what they learned on Day 1, participants made their own Workflow Foundation (WF)! After their WFs were presented and evaluated, the winner received a UiPath tumbler!


Day 2, morning session: ‘Let’s Innovate with WFs!’

Participants applied basic programming knowledge — such as working with data types of variables and conditional branching — to RPA to create more advanced WFs.


Day 2, Afternoon session: ‘Experiencing Advanced Automation!’

Attendees were provided tips on how to respond to errors and how to find bugs, as well as how to think about RPA in relation to AI in its implementation.

Day 2, Application Time

Applying what they learned in this hands-on session, participants made their own WF! After their WFs were presented and evaluated, the winner received a UiPath tumbler!


Participants’ Comments

・I didn’t really know what RPA or UiPath was, but I was able to get a concrete image of DX itself, which made it very interesting.

・Thank you for teaching me in such a warm manner even though I had no prior knowledge on the subject.

・Whenever I had a complicated question, I was provided thorough explanations over Slack even outside of class time. This gave me extra motivation to learn more.
